Dan Kramer

Dan’s Culinary Arts Associates Degree from Johnson and Wales University didn’t add to his boating knowledge, but it does help him prepare bomber meals for overnight river trips. Being in, on and around water is where Dan feels the most at home. After a 25-day whitewater rafting adventure down the Colorado River through the Grand Canyon, the hook was set, and he immersed himself into boating. Since then, he has studied anything having to do with boating. He was a trip leader on another 21-day Grand Canyon trip and as a boatman on a third trip. Dan shares his knowledge by teaching whitewater rafting guide schools, beginner and intermediate rafting classes, and swift water rescue classes at Lake Tahoe Community College. He also teaches recreational kayaking at a local summer camp. Dan is also a U.S. Coast Guard licensed Merchant Mariner with a 100 gross ton rating. He captains a sightseeing and watersport boat on Lake Tahoe during the summer. When he’s not teaching or giving boat tours, Dan loves to sail, whitewater kayak and raft, snowboard, camp, hike, go to music festivals and prepare delicious vegan dishes.
