Our Verdict
The Crazy Creek Hex 2.0 is about 30 percent lighter than the Crazy Creek Original. It also collapses much smaller, it is a little less comfortable, and a little more expensive than the Original. We lean toward either getting the Crazy Creek Original for the value and durability or stepping up to the Crazy Creek Hex 2.0 PowerLounger. The PowerLounger is 30 percent heavier and not as compact, but it is also much more comfortable and can double as a sleeping pad for backpacking or naps at the park. That said, if having a chair that is light and compact is your top priority, then the Hex 2.0 may be the way to go.
Our Analysis and Test Results
Likes
This is close to the lightest and most compact camp chairs we tested. Only the Alite Monarch Butterfly was lighter and more compact. While the Monarch chair is more comfortable and cool, it is much less stable, not as versatile, and takes time to set up and collapse. The Hex 2.0 collapses in about 10 seconds and will fit in most small backpacks.
In a pinch it can be used as a sleeping pad. However, it is pretty short and will only insulate your torso. It's best used in conjunction with a bigger sleeping pad or just for taking naps at the park.
Dislikes
Is not quite as comfortable as the Crazy Creek Original. It feels like it has a little less support and pinches in on the sides a little more. It's not uncomfortable, but compared to the PowerLounger or Therm-a-rest Trekker, it's in a different category or comfort. For most people, if you are not obsessed with weight, we would recommend the Crazy Creek Hex 2.0 LongBack or PowerLounger.
