Our Verdict

The Beyond Yoga Caught in the Midi High-Waisted leggings are the most comfortable pair of yoga pants in our review, and for that, we gave them our Top Pick for All-Day Comfort. The only other pants that came close to being as luxuriously comfortable was the Lululemon Align II, which is our Editors' Choice this year. When we read about the new wave of athleisure attire, such articles must surely be referencing these Beyond Yoga yoga pants, as we surely never want to take them off.
REASONS TO BUY
Comfortable
Perfect for all day attire and lounging around
Snug without being too tight
REASONS TO AVOID
Not very breathable
Not the best for vigorous styles of yoga

Our Analysis and Test Results

Whether we were lounging around the house, out running errands, or going climbing, you could find us wearing this new pair. When used for vigorous yoga classes, our reviewers discovered that the material held sweat for longer periods than some, and we felt uncomfortable during heated practices. If you live in yoga pants and are in search of more to add to your closet for that under the sweater look, or just to join the athleisure movement, these are the ones for you! The Beyond Yoga High-Waisted Midi is made with 90% Nylon and 10% Spandex. All colors are available in XS-XL, and some come in XXS and XXL. The fit runs true to size except for length. At 5'4", the leggings bunched at the calf and did not fall between the calf and ankle as stated for the Midi Length.

Breathability

As comfortable as these pants are, the material holds sweat after a brutal hot yoga class or your favorite power yoga practice; this is the only time we urgently stripped off these leggings, due to the damp fabric. If you are a fan of gentle or Yin yoga, these yoga pants come highly recommended. If you adore power classes and indulge in the Bikram style, you'll want to look for more breathable models.

The other issue with the Caught in the Midi fabric is that, depending on your color choice, your sweat might be highly visible. We tested the “dark tropic,” which looks like a muted green color, and it showed every drop, darkening considerably.

Ease of Movement

It's easy to move and flow in these pants until they get damp and sweaty; this causes the material to feel clingy and sticky, impeding our movement a bit. When dry, the pants flow with our movement, and the waistband lays snuggly against our skin, staying in place but not impeding any bends or twists with it being too thick or tight. The Caught in the Midi has a thin elastic band that lays at the top of the waistband and secures it in place without leaving us feeling squeezed.

If you practice many different styles of yoga, you'll probably find yourself favoring certain types of pants for specific classes. We break down the various types of yoga classes in our Buying Advice guide with suggestions for what kinds of pants work well for each one.

Comfort and Fit

Beyond Yoga states that “this essential item is the go-to piece you will want to wear every single day (and you can).” We've never seen such an accurate statement! These are the most comfortable yoga pants in this review, and they aren't lying - you won't want to take them off once you purchase these leggings. The material is soft and cozy against our skin and is perfect for lounging, errands, hiking; you name it. The only other pair that compares in comfort is this year's Editors' Choice, the Lululemon Align II legging; buttery soft, they bring a bit more breathability to the table in comparison to the Beyond Yoga Midi.

Other pants in our review were so tight and restricting that we couldn't wait to take them off. The Beyond Yoga model is sized true to fit, but won't actually be midi length if you are on the shorter side. For our reviewer who is 5'4", the leggings bunched at the calf and could be stretched beneath her foot.

They offer less compression than other pants in the review, but for such a comfortable pant, we never felt “jiggly” while walking or practicing in them.

Durability

We saw some pilling and threads unravel after a dozen or so uses and washes with these pants, though this did not detract from comfort in any way. For comparison, we did see some pilling in the Alo High-Waisted Airbrush and Lululemon Align II pant as well. If durability is essential, we would recommend the Patagonia Centered Tights.

Style

When it comes to style, the pair we tested are fairly plain. They fit great and can be worn under any sweater or dress with this simplicity. The heather-colored fabrics come in great color choices, but there is little else going on.

On the website, they do have several other options for the “Caught in the Midi High Waisted” legging, including a shimmery “Alloy Ombre” with over the top sparkles. That being said, the fabric specs are different and cannot be guaranteed to have the same level of comfort as the simple Caught in the Midi High Waisted legging, which are the perfect smooth leggings to coordinate an outfit with.

These yoga pants are best for gentle yoga where you might not sweat a lot, or for someone looking for a cozy pair to wear all day long. The heather colors coordinate well with a variety of clothing, so if you are looking for a pair of leggings to wear under a chunky sweater or dress, our Top Pick for All-Day Comfort is a great choice.

Value

This is a good chunk of change to plunk down for one pair of leggings; however, if you're looking for a versatile pair that you can also wear around town, then these will do the trick. We feel better about spending this much on something that we'd regularly wear in public as opposed to something that we only sweat in and remove after class (although, let's be honest, that's still worth it if you're regularly practicing). Most of the yoga pants we tested fall around this price range; if you're after something that is a bit friendlier on your bank account, but still offers decent overall performance, we'd recommend having a look at the 90 Degree by Reflex High Waist.

Conclusion

Let's face it; sometimes we wear our yoga pants more for other activities than we do for actual yoga. In fact, we've even seen a sign in front of a yoga studio that said: “You've bought the clothes, now try the practice!” If you're looking for the best pair of leggings to wear around the house all day or to work or school in colder months, the Beyond Yoga Caught in the Midi High-Waist is a clear winner. They are cozy and soft, and the best pair in this review for all-day wear. Due to their lack of breathability, they aren't ideal for hot yoga for most, but our first choice for comfort is great for everything else under the sun (and shade).
